Nestled in the distant woods somewhere far away from urbanity, this 3 story cabin is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. Taking cues from industrial structures, the roof is raw galvanized standing seam metal while the walls are clad in weathered corrugated GSM siding. Dark stained woods soften the austerity of the dominant metal aesthetic. The cabin focuses around the large concrete firebox that serves all three floors – great for enduring those cold winters.
The first floor contains the Great Room and adjacent open Kitchen. 10′ ceilings help to imbue a sense of prominence. The many windows provide a visual connection to the outdoors while large folding ‘nano’ style doors provide direct access to the adjacent terrace. Again, copious use of dark stained woods lends the space a “mountain cabin” feeling and soften the use of concrete counters and massive concrete fireplace.
The Master Bath, located on the top floor, overlooks the adjacent forest through a large 10′ tall bay window unit. A centrally located and prominent free standing tub leverages this view and provides a special adult retreat and place to unwind from the days outdoor activities. Custom His and Hers vanities are provided with vessel sinks and inset framed mirrors. The use of dark stained woods is once again employed throughout.
